The origin of this umbrella dryer comes from the disassembly of an existing Braun product. By reconfiguring and repurposing its core components, we transformed it into a completely new design that is distinct from the original product.

We disassembled the product we obtained — a Braun grill — in order to understand the relationship between its core components and their functions.
After that, we selected the core component of the grill — the heating plate — and combined it with the core component from another product — a blender motor. This combination inspired our concept for a new product.
This new product is an umbrella dryer. We noticed that in public spaces such as shopping malls, people often use disposable plastic bags distributed by staff to store wet umbrellas. This practice raises environmental and public hygiene concerns. Therefore, we aimed to utilize the heating and rotating functions of the components we had to achieve preliminary drying of wet umbrellas, addressing the issues we identified.
The heating plate warms the air generated by the motor-driven fan to dry the umbrella.
Also we use the excess heat to evaporate the rainwater that drips to the bottom of the container.
